Batu Caves, Malaysia

Batu Caves aka Sri Shubramania Temple is a Hindu monastery dedicated to Lord Murugan. Located in the state of Selangor, Malaysia, the temple is a symbolic tourist destination. The caves were named after the Sungai Batu or Batu rivers. It is recorded that the Temuan people (orang tribes) used some parts of this cave as a refuge.

Batu's limestone caves are set about 400 feet above the ground. It is believed that the limestone in these caves is about 40 million years old. In 2009, based on the application of Datuk and Nadarajah, the Malaysian government awarded RM for the development of the cave building. Collaborated with the Ministry of Tourism by approving 3.6 million.

A picturesque, 140-foot-tall statue of Lord Murugan is located to the right of the stairs. The statue was erected on January 29, 2006. About 1550 cubic meters of concrete, 300 liters of gold paint and 250 tons of steel rods were used to build this huge statue.

The temple building, held between January and February, is filled to the brim with sardines during the annual Hindu festival of Thaipusham. There are three caves here, but there are temples in the main cave. The characteristic paintings in the Ramayana caves tell the story of Lord Sriram. Long-tailed mackerel monkeys can be seen perched on hillsides in almost all temples. You will see them playing around the cave. Several Indian restaurants and shops can be seen around the temple building. You can enjoy spicy food or buy temple offerings and even fancy souvenirs from them.

Some of the hotels near Batu Caves include Gombak Star Hotel, Batu Caves Business Hotel, Hotel Sahara Intman Sri Batu Caves and Homestay Bougainvillea.
